Last weekend Steve and I headed to the beach to stay at a wonderful cabin we found on VRBO in Falcon Cove (which is south of Cannon Beach and north of Manzanita) to celebrate our anniversary. Our daughter Kym and her husband had stayed there and told us how nice it was, so we finally made it happen. We had seen photos of the cabin online, but we were totally in awe when we got there. The cabin is high up on a cliff, the last house at the end of the road, so very private, and the views were absolutely breathtaking. The cabin had plenty of large windows in most of the rooms, so we enjoyed the views from inside as well. They also allow pets, so our little Izzi was able to come too and had two great visits to the beach where she found other little dogs her size to run with each time.
On the way over the mountains we drove through areas of snow at the highest elevations which was beautiful with the blue sky, it looked like the trees had a coat of frosting laid perfectly on each limb. We stopped for breakfast at Camp 18 and enjoyed watching the Stellar Jays outside our window.
We spent most of the weekend at the cabin, we hated to leave the view and the relaxing setting. We did venture out to Manzanita and then south to Wheeler and Garibaldi in search of fresh crab to crack for one of our dinners. The other evening we went to our favorite restaurant in Cannon Beach – Castaways Tini Tiki Hut. Josh is the owner, master chef, and if you are ever looking for a great taste experience while in Cannon Beach, you have to check his restaurant out. The drinks from the bar are exquisite as well. He is open Tuesday-Sunday 5:00-9:00 pm. Get there early because the restaurant is small and fills up very quickly.
The morning we were to leave, we got up before dawn and watched the day break. It was so peaceful listening to the waves as the night turned into day. It was a very special time we’ll always remember.
