When I visited my sister Carol in Boise, one of the wonderful shops we went to was Heritage Reflections. I found a great navy and beige plaid fabric in a table runner and bought two of them to make a padded cushion for the bench at our kitchen table. One runner was not long enough for the bench, so I sewed the two together for the top of the cushion and bought some solid navy fabric for the bottom of the cushion and filled it with 2″ foam. My sister Bonnie suggested I use the non-skid material, that is used to keep rugs in place, to put under the cushion so it doesn’t slip on the bench and it works like a charm.
Once I saw how nice the navy fabric looked in the kitchen, I thought it would be just perfect if I covered the chairs in the same fabric. I called Heritage and asked if they sold that fabric in tablecloth sizes also. They had two sizes and one of them would work perfectly for covering two chairs, so I ordered two tablecloths and they happened to have them in stock, so I got them in just a couple days. I was going to wait for the weekend when I had more time, but I just couldn’t wait and covered all the chairs yesterday evening.
The chairs and bench look so nice and coordinated, and I love how that fabric looks in the kitchen with all my dishes and blue accents. It’s always fun to make a change and enjoy something new.
I’ve also been busy creating gifts for Christmas, but won’t be able to share those with you until after the holidays, so no one gets a sneak peek at their gift 🙂 I will be doing some new Christmas decorations this year, so will be sharing those soon.
